Welcoming New International Students Erasmus+
Welcoming New International Students Erasmus+
Our international community at the Jan Amos Komeński University of Applied Sciences in Leszno continues to grow. This semester, four students from our partner universities have joined us through the Erasmus+ programme, choosing to spend part of their studies in Leszno.
Yerkebulan has joined us from Kazakhstan. He is a student at Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after Safi Utebayev and will spend the semester at the Institute of Technology, studying Computer Science and Mechatronics.
Our new international students also include Nvard from Northern University in Yerevan, Armenia, as well as Irati and Angela from Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. Over the coming semester, all three students will study Pedagogy at the Institute of Education.
Having students from different countries on our campus is a great opportunity to further strengthen the international character of our University, exchange knowledge and experiences, and create connections between students with diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
Together, It’s Easier – the “Buddy Student” Programme
For international students, studying abroad is about much more than attending classes. It is also about meeting new people, discovering a new culture and becoming part of a new community.
To help make this experience even more welcoming, the the Department of Science and International Cooperation is currently recruiting local students to take part in the “Buddy Student” programme. Selected students will support their international peers in their everyday life at the University, while also helping them discover Leszno, Poland and our academic community.
Our international students can already count on the support of the Department of Science and International Cooperation, the University authorities and academic staff. The Student Government and student representatives also play an important role in welcoming our new students, sharing useful information and helping them settle into university life.
International Means More Opportunities
We encourage the entire academic community to reach out to our international students and make the most of the opportunities that their presence creates. Joint projects, conversations, university events, trips, informal get-togethers or simply meeting between classes can all be the starting point for new friendships and valuable connections.
International mobility is not only about the students who travel abroad. Welcoming students from other countries to our University gives our local students an equally valuable opportunity to develop their intercultural skills. Learning about different perspectives, communication styles, traditions and experiences helps us better understand the diversity of today’s world and prepares us for an increasingly international professional and social environment.
At the same time, our international students have the opportunity to experience Polish culture, everyday life and the local community. This exchange and direct interaction are what make Erasmus+ much more than simply spending a semester abroad – it is an opportunity to learn from one another and see the world from a different perspective.
