Meeting of the Leszno Society of Friends of Science
On March 5, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., a meeting of the Leszno Society of Friends of Science will be held at the University Library of the Jan Amos Komeński State University of Applied Sciences in Leszno. The meeting will be devoted to the shared history of Ukraine and Poland.
A lecture entitled “Polonia in Uman” will be given by Prof. Ihor Kryvosheia, a Ukrainian historian working at the Department of General History and Teaching Methodology at the Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. For over 20 years, he has been cooperating with Polish historians, including those from Warsaw, Poznań, Kraków, Olsztyn, and Częstochowa. He is the director of the Polish Cultural and Educational Center at the State Pedagogical University in Uman, a member of the Polish Historical Society, and the Polish Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
Prof. Ihor Kryvosheia is conducting a research project entitled “The reception of the history of Uman at the end of the 18th century and the first three decades of the 20th century in Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian memoirs: a comparative analysis” as part of the “Research in Poland” program of the Juliusz Mieroszewski Center for Dialogue.
