BIP ‘Interdisciplinary Patient Care’ at ANS Leszno
From 16 to 20 February 2026, the Jan Amos Komeński State University of Applied Sciences in Leszno will organise the international Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
“Interdisciplinary Patient Care”
implemented within the Erasmus+ Programme and financed by funds of the European Union.
The programme focuses on developing practical competences in the field of interdisciplinary patient care and will be conducted by academic staff of the Institute of Health and Physical Education. Classes will be held at the Monoprofile Medical Simulation Centre (MMSC), a modern teaching facility equipped with advanced medical equipment as well as low- and high-fidelity simulation rooms.
A total of 21 participants will take part in the programme. The participants will include students and academic teachers from partner universities, including the University of Rijeka (Croatia) and the University of Liberec (Czech Republic). The participation of representatives of foreign higher education institutions will enable work in international interdisciplinary teams and the exchange of experience concerning patient care standards in different healthcare systems.
The programme is based on intensive practical classes conducted in small groups and clinical simulations reflecting real-life situations encountered in the work of medical teams. Participants will take part, among others, in classes covering nursing procedures implemented using the four-step method, simulations concerning the collection of information about the patient’s condition using high-fidelity scenarios, workshops focused on preventing and alleviating patient discomfort, exercises in the care of patients with a stoma, classes concerning the care of patients experiencing pain and dyspnoea in the course of cancer within the context of interdisciplinary team work, practical first aid training conducted in low-fidelity simulation rooms, and classes supporting functional competences and stress regulation using elements of functional movement.
An important complement to the clinical component will be classes conducted on the university premises in the field of breathing and relaxation techniques, including, among others, breathing exercises, elements of stretching and Pilates, as well as techniques for calming and regeneration. These classes serve as a didactic break, supporting the maintenance of concentration, reduction of psychophysical burden, and the development of competences related to stress prevention in medical work.
The final presentation of interdisciplinary teams, based on a high-fidelity simulation scenario, will constitute the completion of the programme and the basis for awarding 3 ECTS credits. It will allow for practical verification of the acquired skills in conditions similar to the real clinical environment.
The programme combines virtual and on-site components and is aimed at developing practical competences, teamwork, and communication in the healthcare environment using modern educational infrastructure.
The virtual component with the participation of all participants and organisers takes place today, 3 February 2026.
The activities carried out within the BIP programme fit into the dynamic development of the University and the systematic increase in its internationalisation. The University actively participates in international projects and events, and the number of initiatives of an international character will be successively increased in the near future.
More and more often, our University is chosen by foreign students and academic staff as a place of study, internships, and teaching cooperation, which confirms the growing recognition of the University and its potential in the field of education and international cooperation.
