“Comenius, Comeniology, Comeniological Research” International Scientific Conference
On 8-11 November 2023 Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation Prof. Maciej Pietrzak, PhD, attended an international conference on “Comenius, Comeniology, Comeniological Research,” which was held in Mannheim.
The conference was organised by the Comenius Research Centre of the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences (Alanus Hochschule) and German Comenius Society (Deutsche Comenius-Gesellschaft) at the Institute for Waldorf Education, Inclusion and Intercultural Studies in Mannheim. Among a dozen or so presented papers, the conference programme also included an interesting presentation given by Vice-Rector Pietrzak. Entitled “Comenius lebt an der Akademie der Angewandten Wissenschaften in Leszno” (“Comenius lives in the State University of Applied Sciences in Leszno”), the lecture discussed places, symbols, and activities of the Leszno University upon which its title thesis was based. The conference served as an opportunity to ceremonially open the Comenius Library whose collections increased by the Polish version of Comenius’s work Informatorium scholae maternae (“On Early School Education”), which was published by our University. On the last day of the event, attendees visited the exhibition “Comenius in Heidelberg,” which was organised by the Heidelberg University Institute of Educational Sciences. The last point of this international meeting was a farewell dinner at a stylish restaurant – Zum Güldenen Schaf.
