The first educational exchange with the Czech Republic
Our University has started cooperation with the Higher School of Nursing in the Czech Republic (Střední zdravotnická škola a VOŠZ Žďár nad Sázavou). Based on the agreement signed in 2019, on 3-6 April 2023, we hosted the first exchange of six students and two teachers in our University. Organised by the Department of Science and International Cooperation and Institute of Health and Physical Education, their stay in our University included, among other things, the tour of our campus, of which, undoubtedly, the most attractive point was the Monoprofile Medical Simulation Centre where our guests were presented with the available equipment and types of simulation rooms, and took part in practical real-life scenario classes, when accompanied by our second-year nursing students who provided any necessary support. Our Czech guests also attended other classes, among which a special lecture about surgical nursing was conducted by our University Nursing Coordinator PhD Maciej Górecki. Another item on the study agenda was the joint visit in the Provincial Hospital in Leszno, where all the participants were shown the hospital wards and attended a practical class at the surgical unit.
Apart from more academic and scientific aspects of their visit, the students and teachers from the Czech Higher School of Nursing were offered a sightseeing tour of main tourist attractions in Leszno, paid a historical visit to the synagogue museum, and tasted some local specialities in our local restaurant.
Our next meeting will be held in the Czech Republic – nursing students from Jan Amos Komeński State University of Applied Sciences will pay a visit there during the upcoming academic year.
